On Saturday 5th April 2008 at midday representatives of Ez-Eco Ltd will be in Norfolk at the beach to the village of Walcott. This East Anglian coastal village suffers regularly with flooding. With very little flood defence the residents have their homes & businesses flooded, leaving damage to the buildings, possessions & a bleak outlook to what the future holds.
Some of the flood protection volunteers of Walcott have asked Ez-Eco Ltd if we would demonstrate to the public, how fast & easy it would be to set up temporary flood protection using the Gobi Building System, to help reduce the effects of flooding on their homes.
We decided that the best way to show them how quick & easy they can build with the Gobi units, would be to have a hands on demonstration/workshop. So we have offered the whole village from adults to children, a chance to come down to the beach to have a go at constructing walls using the Gobi Building System units, and the sand which is readily available on the beach. We will also be at hand to answer any questions that anyone may have about our new system.
If you would like to join in or just see for yourself then why not come down to Walcott on the 5th. Feel free to also contact us with any enquiries or to request a possibility hands on demonstration in your area.
Flood damage by the sea at the coastal village of Walcott, Norfolk
What happened at the workshop in Walcott?
Despite the weather some of the people of Walcott & a few from around Norfolk, came down to the beach for the gobi building system workshop. There were a few who braved the wind & rain to get a firsthand look at how to build with the units, & some who watched on from the warmth of their cars, parked by the wall to the beach.
Everyone was given an information pack, plus the Marketing & Sales Director was at hand to answer any questions.
People at the workshop/demonstration at Walcott.
A team four showed them how quick and easy the flat packed sustainable building system is, to build walls for possible flood protection or any other construction that they may want to build. To demonstrate how lightweight they are, walls were built and then carried to the edge of the sea, to be filled with the sand from the beach.
The feedback from many of the spectators was that they could see the potential of the Gobi units for possible flood proctection, as well as many other possibilities for other uses. Although someone pointed out that sandbags are free (sometimes), others mentioned that they do not always arrive in time & some said that the Gobi Building System would be great for making more permanent protection around their properties. Which would save time, worry & possibly help with insurance issues against flooding.
A big thanks to all the people who came, and also those who helped demonstrate the system, braving the freezing weather, rain & pounding sea.
